Sleep Medicine
The Condition
The Condition
Sleep apnea is a serious breathing disorder characterized by repeated interruptions during sleep. These pauses, called apneas , last at least 10 seconds and can occur 5 to 30 or more times per hour.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
The most common form. The throat muscles relax, blocking the airway during sleep. This reduces oxygen levels and fragments sleep, stressing the cardiovascular system.
Central Sleep Apnea (CSA)
Less common. The brain fails to send consistent signals to the muscles responsible for breathing.
Without treatment, sleep apnea can significantly impact overall health and quality of life.
Know the Signs
Loud, chronic snoring Gasping or choking during sleep Excessive daytime sleepiness Morning headaches Difficulty concentrating Dry mouth upon waking Mood disorders, anxiety, or depression If you or your partner notice these symptoms, testing is strongly recommended.
Sleep apnea affects both men and women at any stage of life. Certain medical and lifestyle factors increase risk:
High blood pressure
Type 2 diabetes
Cardiovascular disease
Overweight or obesity
Chronic snoring
Family history
Women are frequently underdiagnosed because symptoms present differently. Hormonal changes during pregnancy and menopause can increase airway instability.
Health Risks
Repeated oxygen drops and sleep fragmentation put significant stress on the body. Untreated sleep apnea is strongly linked to serious systemic conditions.

Treatment Options
Treatment Options
For many patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, oral appliance therapy is a comfortable and effective alternative to CPAP. The custom-fitted device gently repositions the lower jaw forward, opening the airway and allowing uninterrupted breathing throughout the night.
Custom-Fitted to Your Teeth
Your appliance is precision-fitted at our office for comfort and effectiveness. not a generic, over-the-counter device.
Silent & Travel-Friendly
No mask, no machine, no noise. Many patients prefer it over CPAP for its simplicity and portability.
